One expensive sleep over…

As many of you know, I was to participate in the San Diego Sprint Triathlon in Mission Bay, San Diego on May 2nd, 2010. Well, here is how it went. I did a whopping time of 0:0:0 on my time at the triathlon yesterday due to a no show on my part. I didn’t set my alarm on my iPhone correct and I didn’t have the hotel give me a wake up call due to me thinking my iPhone was my morning savior. That was one expensive sleepover in Mission Bay, SD, CA and it will never happen again. If you ever wanted to see a man so pissed, sad, overwhelmed, confused, in tears, depressed, and hyper.. then you missed it yesterday morning. To top it off, my cold came back from the unhealthy mental and physical stress the I put my self through. What a weekend to forget. May need therapy on this one.. hhahahaha..

Udon and Pizza = Saving money

With all of us saving and thinking of more ways to save our money, I know that when you make your own food, you really increase your bank account. Today We (Kitty, Sebastian and I) made pizza dough, Udon noodles, and pie crust (for breakfast items we are experimenting with). All it took was a total of 6 cups of non bleached flour, less than 2 Tbsp of salt, 1 tsp of sugar, and a few extra ingredients. With cutbacks and job loss, this is a very great way to spend time with your family, learn more about each other with the conversations made during the creation process and just a good time for quiet and thought. I fully recommend you make use of your internet connection and start gathering recipes for your favorites and family favorites. Get some cooking books from your local book store and learn something new. I never thought I would make noodles from scratch and today I did along with our very first pizza dough (which was the tastiest and less fat feeling pizza ever).

The pizza total cost (for 4 8″ – 10″ pies was:

2$ for 2 pepperoni rolls (I had to cut it into 1/16″ – 1/8″ slices which was enough for the 4 pies)

2$ for a 16oz can of tomato sauce

4$ for a 16oz block of Mozzarella (I had to shred the cheese with a cheese grader

1$ for a 12 oz can of pitted black olives (I chopped them up)

$0 for fresh basil leaves (my private herb garden)

$? for already owned flour ( I buy flour in bulk now since we actually use it now)

$? for the salt and pepper used

$? from already cooked ham from a previous dinner

= $10.00(rounded off)

I was stoked as all the pizza fat delivery places would have cost me double for the amount of goodness I created (goodness = Fun with family, flavor, and 4 pies). Total time invested was an hour, but you usually have to wait 20-50 minutes for a delivery dude.

What do you guys think about this?

I will let you all know how the Udon noodles came out later on. They are in the freezer now and we will eat them for dinner with a homemade broth and additions from the fridge.

Thanks to my new favorite site www.NetVibes.com, I just read this http://swiftwindturbine.com/?intro=skip and was instantly interested. unfortunately, my wind factor was a 1. You would need a 3 see any benefit from this wind device. I am still pretty excited about it though. Hopefully one of you can benefit from it. I know that there are many ideas, thoughts, inventions, and craziness going on at this point in time, but it really excites me to know that we are in the future now.

So many of us are constantly contemplating about either furthering our education, jumping ship and changing careers that we are unhappy with, or just staying put. I have chosen to take the course of changing careers within my career in IT. I have figured out exactly what I like to do and what I should do to make it happen. I enjoy planning, organizing, implementing, and handing the keys over when I am done with that task, job, and project, what have you. I am now on the road to getting certifications to become a Project Manager. I have for the past few weeks been gathering information from a wide variety of sources. The jumps from blog to blog and site to site finally paid off with this page. http://www.pmi.org/CareerDevelopment.

I was focused on the PMP cert that I forgot that there is an incremental step process to help you grow at a healthy rate. This journey will be tough as the organization I am in is small and with the Economy on the fritz. But I hope to someday, land a position within the PM Field of IT.

Family VS. The Economy

Well, either the Economy has eliminated my Mother In Law’s job or she has a nice lawsuit ahead of her.
I received new from my wife that her mom was laid off this morning as she returned from a 1 month disability leave due to an automobile accident mid Dec 08 . My stomach plunged and my mind scattered as I tried to instantly figure out what and how I am gong to help her out. What is she to do now? A Chinese-American pattern maker with years and years of knowledge and an articulate and anal behavior with attention to detail now stuck in the allowed Sub-Prime and Post White house financial mess. Looks like this year is the year of ideas as my family and the world need to find work. Its going to be a bumpy ride, but our imagination as a species should and has to overcome this time period. Here is to fresh ideas to get the whole lot back to work and peace.

With complacency and ill thought words globally about the previous administration that just left the white house, I have made a promise to stay determined, healthy mineded, and focused on my goals in being more proactive in the community (be it online of physical) and getting into a project management position. Here is to 2009!
